Can this be used as an eyedropper pen??

i bought a sonnet several years ago when i was starting out. it was my favorite but i abused it. i got a new one recently and it doesnt feel nearly as smooth as i remember

I love my Sonnets, it was my first pen and it was a lovely wet writer. Both the ones I have are sentimental favourites

I collected a lot of fontaine pens, especially Parker. As for me Sonnet is absolutely overpriced. It's absolutely stiff and write worser than IM or even Jotter

I used your formula with Waterman Inspired Blue, MB Oyster Grey, and a touch of Parker Quink Black to get similar results and no weird sediments or unwanted behaviors. Very nice shading on it. Thanks for this!

$30 is a bit much for a steel LAMY nib - they go for $14 from Jet Pens here in the US.

Good to see you back. I agree with you about this Jinhao 80. I bought Lamy 2000 and was so disappointed. The section was slick to my dry hands. The nib had a tiny sweet spot that rotated on me. The Jinhao solved both those problems. Add the ability to interchange nibs and I was sold. I have one in every color. ❤

I have both the moonman a1 and the jinhao 10, I think the a1 is a little better built.

I did not know if I would like the clip there, then I got a moonman a1 with the clip, the clip does not bother me. I have another without the clip, not having the clip annoys me.

I have exactly the same experience with the Majohn A1. Writes dry as hell and dries up within a day. Now, the trap door stopped working. Ready for the bin.

I have the Jinhao 10 and love it. It is surprisingly well made and writes well.

There is a new version of this pen that really works! It has a different clip so you can distinguish it. It is called 3088A if I recall correctly

Thank you for looking at this pen and an excellent look at the problems with this copy. Stephen Inks also looked at this, while he didn't run into the click mechanism issue you have, he did run into the barrel cracking and making it useless. These are the types of things to watch out for with cheap copies. That said, the Majohn A1 with or without the clip is an excellent copy of the VP, but the price also shows it.

I don't want to support copy cat company by buying their stuff.

Personally I'd avoid ALL Chinese JUNK pens (pun intended)

Apparently, you haven't looked at the majohn A1 CLIPLESS. It's identical to a pilot Capless but no clip, just a roll stop. I would buy the clipless A1 over the Platinum Curidos. Not that I think the platinum is a good pen, just not interested in a plastic pen with a nock that is so long. Excellent review! It's refreshing to see someone give a bad, although honest review! Warning videos are as appreciated as much as videos praising a good pen!

I bought a hooded nib one for Christmas. I'm using private reserve infinitely ink. So far it is working ok. Just a little bit of drying after a few days of non use.

I could never get my Jinhao 10 to even place ink on the paper, but it never broke on me. Sorry the Lanbitou was such a disappointment.

In the last lot of goodies from AliExpress, I got the Lanbitou dupe of the TSWBI Eco. No, I don't really hold with Chinese knock-offs of pens I can actually afford, but I have to say I'm begrudgingly impressed by it. It's an unusual fine nib that is hooded, but the hood is transparent, which I've not seen before. It was under £2...I'm too much of a TWSBI fanboy to buy another. In the subject of retractable, I just got a notification to say that my Jinhao 10 had cleared UK customs and was with Royal Mail... No more pens till March.

Maybe your pen doesn't work because you have an Adelaide or a euoplos dignitas stuck in the trap door.

I have two of these pens, and the first week of using one, the door broke. It's totally gone. I haven't yet used the second. But I just found out that there's a new version. the 3088A. With a hooded nib and a new clip. Give me Jinhao any time. The 159 with the EF nib. Sure it's plastic now, but still. Or the 9016 and 9019. But I must say, I also enjoy the bullet end needle nib pistonfillers these days.

This is why I won't buy a Retro fountain pen. I love their roller-ball models, though. Maybe someday when they make metal threads, I'll reconsider, but for now it's a pass for me.

Bizarrely, my pen has a spring inside the barrel which I haven’t seen in any of the unboxing videos. IT doesn’t seem to have any purpose and my pen nib neither retracts properly with or without. Any thoughts?

Sadly, very cheap plastic. The plastic below the cap band cracked on mine really early on, and then a whole chunk of plastic followed.

As much as I like supporting people who make the original design, I can't, in good conscious, support a company that bases their identity off of Bauhaus "Design". The world's ugliest ski resort is a Bauhaus "Masterpiece".

You need to treat yourself to a Pro Gear with a 21K nib.

I love the early Jinhao #5 nibs too, they’re a little springy like Pilot. Nice review.

The red you see when putting a light to the pen is also how you can tell if it is a fake Montblanc or not. The "precious resin" is really n othing more than plastic, do not drop a MB on a hard surface.
